To me, this makes the gold and silver buying from India more “free market” and price-sensitive in nature because the more participants in any market, the freer the market is by definition. The many tens and even hundreds of millions of gold and silver buyers from India make the markets there the freest of all. India has always played a vital role in gold and silver. I remember how my longtime friend and silver mentor, Izzy Friedman, more than 40 years ago, as he was deciding whether to make a major investment in silver in the mid-1970’s, actually flew to India to see for himself if the stories of great silver hoards about to flood the market should prices move higher (from $4 or $5) were true. Izzy saw plenty of silver, but none so closely held in large concentrated quantities to pose a market threat. I believe that’s still the case today. </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-datestamp field-field-article-published-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Thursday, June 13th</span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Several recent articles have highlighted a surge of silver imports to India, prompting me to take a closer look. India has always been a big buyer of silver and gold, befitting the traditions and culture of the country with the world’s second largest population. The population of India, more than 1.3 billion citizens, is now only about 50 million less than that of China.</span></span></p><p><a href="http://silverseek.com/commentary/india-reacts-depressed-silver-prices-17669" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Thu, 13 Jun 2019 13:28:37 +0000 Theodore Butler 17669 at http://silverseek.com SILVER PRICE UPDATE: For Silver To Head Higher, This Is A Key Level http://silverseek.com/commentary/silver-price-update-silver-head-higher-key-level-17667 <div class="field field-type-text field-field-article-snippet"> <div class="field-label">Snippet:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Even though the silver price has sold off today, it doesn’t mean the rally that started two weeks ago is over. While the silver price was down more than 40 cents today, it may be retesting a support level before heading higher. However, it doesn’t help that it took two weeks for silver to go up more than 70 cents, but then fall 30+ cents today. Regardless, traders and algorithms follow certain technical price levels. Thus, the silver price was trading in a falling wedge pattern for the past four months before breaking out of that trend last week. Typically, a falling wedge pattern is bullish. Yes, it sounds counter-intuitive, but falling wedges are more bullish to the price action while rising wedges are bearish. </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-datestamp field-field-article-published-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Tuesday, June 11th</span> </div> </div> </div> <p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.25rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-numeric: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-weight: 400; font-stretch: inherit; font-size: 17.008px; line-height: inherit; font-family: 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; color: #000000; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff; text-decoration-style: i<p><a href="http://silverseek.com/commentary/silver-price-update-silver-head-higher-key-level-17667" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Tue, 11 Jun 2019 12:55:01 +0000 SRSrocco 17667 at http://silverseek.com COT Silver Report - June 7, 2019 http://silverseek.com/commentary/cot-silver-report-june-7-2019-17666 <div class="field field-type-text field-field-article-snippet"> <div class="field-label">Snippet:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> COT Silver Report - June 7, 2019 </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-datestamp field-field-article-published-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Friday, June 7th</span> </div> </div> </div> <table class="MsoNormalTable" style="width: 548px; border-collapse: collapse;" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr style="mso-yfti-irow: 0; mso-yfti-firstrow: yes; height: 13.5pt;"><td style="width: 19.0pt; padding: 0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; height: 13.5pt;" valign="bottom" nowrap="nowrap" width="25">&nbsp;</td><td style="width: 74.0pt; background: white; padding: 0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; height: 13.5pt;" valign="bottom" nowrap="nowrap" width="99"><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; </p></td></tr></tbody></table><p><a href="http://silverseek.com/commentary/cot-silver-report-june-7-2019-17666" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Fri, 07 Jun 2019 19:21:25 +0000 SilverCOTReport 17666 at http://silverseek.com U.S. Silver Exports To India Explode Past Six Months http://silverseek.com/commentary/us-silver-exports-india-explode-past-six-months-17663 <div class="field field-type-text field-field-article-snippet"> <div class="field-label">Snippet:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> While silver investment demand in the West continues to remain weak, Indians are purchasing the white shiny metal hand over fist. A number of subscribers have pointed out that silver’s latest COT looks increasingly bullish, with the habitually wrong Large Specs giving up on it completely and starting to go short, and the Commercials scaling back their earlier large short positions. This is true – the latest COT does look increasingly bullish as we can see below. In addition they also pointed out that silver is approaching a zone of quite strong support approaching its late 2015 lows, obviously a good point for it to bottom. But will these important factors stop it dropping further and perhaps breaking to new lows? Probably not, for overriding reasons that we will now consider. </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-datestamp field-field-article-published-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Friday, May 31st</span> </div> </div> </div> <p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; display: inline !important; float: none;">The purpose of this update on silver is to attempt resolve a number of glaring contradictions amongst its technical indic</span></p><p><a href="http://silverseek.com/commentary/will-silver-get-smashed-down-even-lower-market-crash-we-review-latest-charts-and-cots-176" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Fri, 31 May 2019 13:11:50 +0000 Clive Maund 17659 at http://silverseek.com The CFTC’s Summer Camp Letter http://silverseek.com/commentary/cftc%E2%80%99s-summer-camp-letter-17657 <div class="field field-type-text field-field-article-snippet"> <div class="field-label">Snippet:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> About 30 years ago, my wife arranged for our then ten-year old son to attend a sleep-away YMCA summer camp in Tallulah Falls, in the Georgia Mountains. Since the only communication would be by postal mail (no cellphones or texting back then) and I knew my son was not likely to write without some prodding, I sent him off with a number of pre-printed letters, in which all he had to do was fill in the blanks. I can’t say my mail assistance appeared constructive upon receiving Ross’ first letter, as he indicated that he made no new friends, the weather was rotten, as was the food and his camp counselor wasn’t nice – all in addition to him having no fun. Fortunately, subsequent letters were progressively better and, as I indicated, the camp turned out to be a great experience for years to come. I also recollect how he told us later about a kid who cried every night going to sleep because he missed his parents. Asked on the last night why he was crying since he was going home the next day, the kid responded because he was going to miss the camp. </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-datestamp field-field-article-published-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Friday, May 31st</span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%; color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">About 30 years ago, my wife arranged for our then ten-year old son to attend a sleep-away YMCA summer camp in Tallulah Falls, in the Georgia Mountains.
